Bottled Water

Have you ever wondered why we all drink from bottles of water? Well the Pepsi company is trying to force people to buy bottled water just to keep the business running. They are forcing us by scaring everyone that tap water is unclean and dirty to drink just so we would take in the water bottles. But if we continue to use bottles of water then our planet could turn into a wasteland and that just also means that if we keep on producing these bottles, then it would intoxicate the land and God’s creation. Plus the bottles a made from oil which is not very pleasant.

Water bottles are really cool because when you do exercise such as hike or running the you have a bit of a back-up for energy. Water bottles can help us to actually teach people the proper way of transporting water and getting a use out of our water bottles.

Overall I think that we should discontinue using water bottles because they are always found lying around because too many lazy people who can’t be stuffed picking up after themselves and in disrupts the natural habitat.

Last night the whole school had the school production called Puff the magic dragon, and it was a real thriller. At the end all the teachers dress as characters from Shrek and it was HILARIOUS. The song our class did were hey now and MKTO classic and all the seniors did single ladies. Most of the boys like me got to do drumming and we had a good time. The cast was a good choice but maybe we could select better songs for the Middles and Juniors next time.

Overall it was a great production and all the characters did a good cooperation with the play.

Helping the Orangutans environment

As forest dwelling primates, orangutans are entirely dependent on the forest for their survival. Unfortunately, Indonesia and Malaysia have some of the highest rates of deforestation in the world, and logging, both legal and illegal, has seen wild populations decimated. Forest conversion for pulp and paper and palm oil plantations now pose an even bigger threat, and it is believed up to 1,000 orangutans are also killed every year, either for the pet trade, for consumption or as agricultural pests.

On Friday the Seniors met Leah and Chris from the Whitehorse City Council. Leah and Chris told us how we can get to and from a destination safely by using public transport. We learnt how useful the transport is. We learnt how you can find your way around your local area and respecting public transport by not wrecking any parts of it. I learnt that you can trust any people who have a proper job like working at 7 11. It’s a lot harder to stay safe around local areas than what I thought. I liked to experience how you can catch the bus and train to a place safely and how to take care of the transport.

Here is a quick video we watched:

How olive baboons have adapted to change

Two young anthropologists have been involved in long term studying of olive baboons. The baboons feed on prickly pear fruit which contains sugar and vitamins but no fat or protein. These certain baboons have adapted to a new diet because they are suffering from climate change, the human population and an environmental change to their habitat. In addition, parts of Kenya are being degraded. The baboons are adapt to a new diet on prickly pears by destroying the bad parts and getting to the core. They roll the prickly pear in the dirt to scrape the hairs of and can eat the fruit without hurting themselves.

Throughout term 3 I have learnt a lot about maths like what BODMAS means and how you can use all the methods. I have learnt that in algebra, a letter can equal any number you want it to be. I enjoyed doing worksheets about questions that contain needing to use BODMAS and Algebra. I also learnt what BODMAS stands for:
Brackets
Orders
Division
Multiplication
Addition
Subtraction

Today St Lukes had a mini fair with food, games, toys, hair spraying, face paints, the chocolate throw and much more. We were raising money for Bahay Tuluyan and everybody had a great time. Our class (Senior MY) were running the chocolate throw where you have a coin and you must throw it onto a card. If the coin lands on a card, then you win a chocolate.

On Monday the Seniors opened our time capsules and my friend put an apple in his to see how long it would rot. We put them in the hall in 2011 and we opened them in 2015. When Travis opened his, the apple had disintegrated. Most people put drawings, books and even cool photos and toys to remember. Even though I wasn’t there that year I still enjoyed watching everybody open their time capsules from 2011.

Immigration Museum

On Monday the Seniors went to the Immigration Museum in the city. We learnt about people who migrated to Australia because of disasters the happened to them. We watched a video about a man who boards a tram and acts strange around this black guy. We went in a replica of what it’s like on boats that travel to Australia and boats these days like big metal ocean liners. We saw wrappers of biscuits and stuff but I didn’t get why they were so racist.

We got to take a walk in the city and take photos of the Yarra River and how it looked like in the past. It was quite strange to see so many homeless people hanging out on the footpath and near the main road. I learnt that Australia is one of the worst countries to turn migrants back to their own country. There was a sign that said where white and black people go to get water. There was even a T-shirt that showed a message that told people Australia is too full to have others in the country.

A small spacecraft called the New Horizon, the size of a piano and after 9 years of traveling it has got photos and footage of Pluto. As Pluto got closer to the New Horizon it has change color and craters and cliffs have been found on the huge dwarf planet. In a car it takes at least 6000 years to get from Earth to Pluto. The New Horizon is now the fastest ever spacecraft NASA has ever built because it can travel 14,000 kilometers an hour.

Pluto was discovered as one of the iciest planets because it’s so far away from the sun.
